Bankruptcy , the Simla way...

As the break comes to an end... My report begins..

From an anticipated visit to my mom's village , talked about trip to Mumbai , i finally landed on a two day tour to Simla with my travel-mate! Although, travel for me is not about time and money , it strangely turned out to be that , atleast this one

12th Dec

Newspaper reports snowfall in Simla. Me and her decide to hop, skip and jump , even though the mercury was dipping in Delhi.

13th Dec

We leave in the evening by a delayed Kalka-Mail.

14th Dec

Disappointed to find the sun shining bright on the town. Some localites throw hopes of finding snow up in Kufri etc.

12PM: We reach Simla, check in to Grand Hotel.
2 PM: We are done with the lunch and relaxing on the swing within the hotel premises.
4 PM: We are getting ready for the evening explore-simla expedition and just when i am ensuring currency in hand, i find my wallet missing.

I remembered handing it over to her sometime back. She is clueless as she does not even remember she ever had it. I took out the camera to check where was it last! But dammit! It cannot be seen anywhere now!

We hurriedly went down to check the place where we were sure it was left unattended by her! It is not to be found!

2 hrs in the city! I am robbed! The hotel staff is largely un-co-operative!

What did i lose?

- 3 Credit Cards
- 2 Debit cards
- PAN Card
- Driving License
- 2K cash

To top it, we did not have a single penny in hand!

The situation was weird, still we both were laughing real hard! I was very sure, i was pre-maturely married off to uninvited trouble! ;)

The rarest of rare situations, we managed to locate some money lenders after few phone calls, got all my cards blocked, lodged an FIR (although useless from the investigation point of view).

It was 8 in the evening, vacation spirits still un-attended, walking back after all the important chores when it suddenly struck me that our e-tickets for Delhi were booked under my Driving-License as the identity proof!

Lo! The tickets are useless and the FIR does not cover the license as there was a new rule to furnish an affidavit for Driving License due to the recent riots!

I got those tickets cancelled through a friend over the phone and decided will take the bus back to Delhi.

The trip still was fun, for eye-treatments , find the pictures here!

I am skipping a lot of ranting to keep it short, but till the last minute in that place, everything kept us on our heels! We took the cheapest-local transport to hop places around!

And had it not been for a last minute running, we would have safely missed the bus-back to Delhi as well and i did not have any more money on me to buy another ticket!

Am not visiting any more hilly places for few years from now! Simla is beautiful and all that jazz , but typical of the north, very steep!

For all that snow-hunting, we actually had to search for it! :)
