Life is a long, wondrous and continuous introduction to yourself.

The act of creation — it leads me to unknown places. Only to make me realize that all was known, always. And yet, I live every day with the hope that I’ll explore, create and grow into someone new. Because what’s life if not a long, wondrous and continuous introduction to yourself.

In this journey, music lives by my side. I find melody in my writing, and a lot of writing in my melodies. Sometimes, I hear songs in the bubbles of boiling tamarind water. Or in the stroke of red paint over the canvas. Or in the giggles of a child after a good joke. Tunes find their way even into my boredom, curiosity and the thoughts in between. And a rhythm taps into my sorrow, so it can take the leap to laughter.

Such is music. Such is life — yours and mine.

Hello!

Learn, Look up, Leap

According to "The World Factbook", the unemployment rate in India is only 9.5% as of 2009.Alarming, surprising and unbelievable it might be but it means that most of us are earning our bread and butter. Some of us may be doing some hard jobs but i am one of those (un)fortunate people who is a part of the corporate livelihood scheme. So, i am earning my salary and i do have a boss. I have many bosses actually. Most of them are nice people. I am in an industry where both being nice and being evil pays. But i won't digress from the agenda of this post.

My experience with hierarchy, mentorship and bosses has not been the funny, interesting one. I have mostly disregarded the existence of people checking on my output. While it provides me an ample amount of confidence and ownership over what i do, it mostly pisses off the people above me. Now, it's one thing to piss off people and another thing to make them turn against you.

I have hunted for a mentor. Someone who can stop me from going “wrong” where wrong is every output that hampers success. Someone who can make me look up to them for what they are. And someone who can make me listen to the “right” things. Yes, i've asked for too much. I have mostly found people in the second category. But suffered in other cases.

So, finally i did find someone who had all the three but i realised i never thought of one more criterion. Someone who can do all that without hampering my own individuality. This is not my boss that i am referring to but to someone who could've been my mentor.

We all can be the best in what we do but most of it fails under the lack of basic human sensitivity.
