Life is a long, wondrous and continuous introduction to yourself.

The act of creation — it leads me to unknown places. Only to make me realize that all was known, always. And yet, I live every day with the hope that I’ll explore, create and grow into someone new. Because what’s life if not a long, wondrous and continuous introduction to yourself.

In this journey, music lives by my side. I find melody in my writing, and a lot of writing in my melodies. Sometimes, I hear songs in the bubbles of boiling tamarind water. Or in the stroke of red paint over the canvas. Or in the giggles of a child after a good joke. Tunes find their way even into my boredom, curiosity and the thoughts in between. And a rhythm taps into my sorrow, so it can take the leap to laughter.

Such is music. Such is life — yours and mine.

Hello!

Times Delhi Festival

Grabbed the free passes on Sunday from Planet M and the evenings of the coming week were all packed for me!

Went for the Brian Silas show. Was a soft evening with all old hindi numbers rendered on the piano..a little low start for an extravaganza which picked up in the following days. This show was more like what my Dad would have loved. Noticed how the chords are played in the piano(there is a foot pedal for the same).  I was there with some friends and left after an hour.

It was mom's birthday. We had the passes for the 'Vani Ganapathy' dance recital. Bharatnatyam recitals had never touched me so much before! I am all airs for the splendid performance.

I cannot particularly forget the 'Jagadodharana'(Purandara dasa kriti) performance, specially the point where she takes the form of the 'vamana' avatara and asks for three steps of land from the king! Awesome! I had heard the story long ago, and it was like some juvinile imagination up and alive! Even the times when she is 'yashoda' playing with 'krishna' , her expressions and style created an illusion of 'little krishna' running after her.

But the performance was not just her mudras and expressions. The flute played by Krishna took the audience in complete awe. The enviornment around was completely a new world full of 'divinity''. Whether it was the Shiva Stuti, Jagadodharana or the concluding recital with 'Vande Mataram', his contribution was  almost equivalent to the dance performance marking a beautiful evening.

More credits to the dancer as she wholly  presented the show herself with 'compering'  and very synchronising introductions.

This was followed by another 'talent' show by Ehsaan-Bharti who has his name in the Guinness book of world records for  his exceptional talent in producing ghunghroo sounds through his vocal chords. This was fancy and fun to watch but musically, was not a great treat. A more of a one man show, who is filled with sponteinity and a whacky sense of humor and knows how to keep the folks engaged with him.

Anything But Love
:( Missed, we were late and no seats left! I had heard from folks that the play is witty enough to be entertaining!

Vagina Monologues
Have been wanting to attend this. Ensured we were at least an hour before the show at the venue. Still, the queue was too long to assure anything! But yay! we made it!

I have not seen the foreign actors stage it, but i could put in various actors in the place of the four indian actors who enacted the monologues! Two of the TV actors who were a part of it were fantabulous. Wondering why such artistes get cheesy roles! Jayati Bhatia will be a special name to mention here.. !

The play as it is was full of humor and as the actors were leaving the stage .. Avantika shouts:
'Delhi, invite us again..We love CO/UMMING!'

Today, there is a rock show which i am mostly going to miss due to unavailability of suitable company!

Tomorrow is Dad's birthday and we all going to jam in Dharohar with Kavita Krishnamurthy and L.Subramanian! :)
