RANT :)

The four month long ordeal came to a stop two days back!

Two days to live and did i? May be.. May be not!

- I robbed somebody of music.. hee-haww... Was long pending, somebody i meet once in a while but his involvement with music is soo long,deep and passionate that i almost always find myself amazed with why his two 'Very Successful' children and a chirpy wife almost seem to have never seen through and lived with his love for the seven note wonder!

He had invited me over to take some of his priced possessions and i almost felt honoured and was waiting for this day for a long time now... We had a small chat and it was discovered that his submission to music is because of the emotional reciprocation and acknowledgement he gets from it and thus goes his appreciation and admiration for the lyrics as well... while i, who has been a student in the past for long before i naively gave way to some other lucrative choices, had seldom known/understood the words i was uttering, other than the fact that every composition was sung in the praise of god X. Hence, i could have rarely appreciated unless it was tamizh or my guru told me what it meant.... but most of the times i did not find the need to know it either, the high-ness while i am learning the song, i would see on the face of my guru and later i would go through it if i do justice to what i am taught!

I also had a small chit-chat about why the age-old system of teaching music is almost always biased towards the pleasure one derives from music than trying to make the disciples understand the technical aspects of it and make it equally interesting!

I think, this is also the reason

-why talent is almost always preferred over a refined taste and appreciation and
-why performance is an emphasis over a zeal to be a musician!

Well, the idea was, i ended up asking for X,Y,Z artists who were mostly instrumentalists... he smiled.. found some real good recordings .. and asked me to name few of the singers , i have grabbed some stuff...listening to a part of it and i am damn sure i am gonna love it all!

(I also have to someday write about why i can be in carnatic music and listen to counting crows stuff too :D)

--Just one thing, i bowed in front of his all-mighty .. it has been around 10 months since i last thought of praying and he had a whole temple made at his home! But for the connection i find with him, i could have done that :)

- Watched 'The Butterfly Effect' .. cool stuff... 

- I undid a crime prolonging for few months now! i finally partitioned my personal laptop...  had almost forgotten about it... it looks so much better now! :)

Aah.. and as i tag this... i realise i have had too many 'general' blogs lately... but then nothing much really happens!
