the right to UNVOTE!
49- O of 1961 act
Did you guys know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, - section "49-O" - that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey to the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone?
Yes! such a feature is available, but obviously our notorious leaders have never disclosed it. this is called 49-O...
Why should you go and say "i vote nobody"?
... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by xxx votes, if 49-O votes are greater than xxx, the polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled.
Not only that, the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-poll, since people have already expressed their decision on them.
This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for the election. It would change the way, of our whole political system...
It is surprising that the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....
Tried to find it over the internet with the following results:

The second one on the election commission site

Having such a clause actually makes sense because if an analogy is drawn then it introduces a default candidate called 49'O who if claims more votes than any other , obviously wins by virtue of choice.
Though it might provoke a lethargic attitude in voters as they might lapse in the area of researching on every candidate thoroughly and simply choose the 49'O!
But nevertheless , a very effective weapon which can prevent fake candidature!
Kindly add more light and info to the same.
Thanks
